I'm not too worried about the plot, because it can't get any worse than the ME3 plot. What i'm worried about is lack of immersion and depth. The world of ME1 felt alive. Although the elevator rides or getting to the other side of the Citadel took forever, it created the feeling of a living and open environment. The world of ME2 / ME3 was just a bunch of game levels with cut scenes in between. ME2 was an alright game though, ME3 was garbage. I'm hoping for an ME1 styled BioWare RPG, but I'm afraid it's going to be another 'Generic EA Shooter'. ME3 was just ME2 on steroids. To call the third garbage while calling the second "ok" is really just viewing things through rose tinted nostalgia goggles. I liked the first one the most by far because it felt bigger like you said. The second was a change in storytelling and focused more on the cinematic look, a look the third game simply copied. The problem with the third game was really just that the pacing was too fast for the scale of the conflict it tried to portray. It got the atmosphere right, the gameplay was better than the second one and the story did not feel as hamfisted as the second game atleast untill the ending. Bioware wrote themselves into a corner right from the start imo and it affected the quality of the games negatively. I second that, the third was good gameplay-wise IMO, just the pace was tedious and the ending had a taste of "Screw that, we ain't got time to finish the ****". I loved DAO and played it over and over in a compulsive manner just to try all the possible combinations and outcomes, but after 2 tries at DA2, the copy/pasted dungeons and sky-NPCs pissed me off, so while I appreciated to change of gameplay, I gave up on that franchise too. I had all DLC for ME1/ME2/DAO, but after that, the EA taste was too strong for me. "haiku are easy, But sometimes they don't make sense, Refrigerator." |
